Collect and Conquer’s top tips to selecting the ‘right’ wall art…

• If it catches your eye, something about it has captured you.

When selecting anything for your space you want it to some how reflect your personality, so if you’re looking at wall art and something about it captures you, explore it and examine what it is in the piece that has got your attention. Once you have done that you’ll know if you love it or not, make sure you love your wall art, you have to look at it day in and day out and is on display for others to see. Wall art is a personal thing, some will love it as much as you do and others might not feel it’s vibe, hey that’s ok . Your style is your own and you always want your pieces to be unique.

• Figure out what size is going to work for your space.

Scale matters! You want to ensure you’re selecting pieces that are the right size and work in your space. You do not want a tiny print on a large scale wall, or vice versa, it will throw out the feel and size of the space. Before looking for wall art, you want to determine the amount of space you have available and look for pieces at a size that will work with that. Be sure to utilise the amount of space well whether it be a big or small area, selecting the right size will help with the overall statement, subtle or bold.

• Mix it up.

People are often scared or wary of mixing their wall art up.  Why? I find when you blend modern and antique, subtle and bold, paintings and prints, etc it is a great way to bring dimension to your house or space. The key is to really think outside of the box and get creative. Think about what will complement your décor and the other wall art pieces you have so they collide beautifully into the perfect mix.

• Colour, colour, colour.

You could go down either one of two dominant avenues when it comes to colour. You could choose to work with colours that are already present in the room, keeping it cohesive and consistent. This approach can keep the blueprint of the space sophisticated and contemporary.

The second road you could take is to introduce bolder colours or shades. The current colours in your room do not restrict your options, if going for a new colour use colours that will tie the room together. Explore with bold colours, shades and textures. If you’re being daring with your colours ensure the other embellishments in the space emphasises the bold wall art.

 

The perfect wall art piece or pieces help set the tone and attract all those “good vibe feels” in your home or space. Always remember to stay true to your style and have fun creating an inviting space that is comfortable and perfectly YOU.

T and I have been working so hard on Collect and Conquer lately.

Everyone says it’s the beginning that is the hardest, it’s when you put in so many hard yards that often consist of late nights and early starts.. yup, we are feeling that.

It’s so thrilling though, this beginning stage is full on and feels very overwhelming most of the time but it is also super exciting. We are constantly thinking about Collect and Conquer, brainstorming, creating new content and are so pumped to see where this all goes and what it turns into.

T has been a busy bee working hard on new graphics and we are working on some fun collaborations.
